Wine Label For Clos des Jocobins

Page:back arrow 1 2 3 4 5  forward arrow

This is the finished scratchboard illustration. When this illustration is reduced and printed on the wine label it will have the look of a steel-plate engraving. In the early 20th century the French used steel-plate engraving to represent "classified growth" and the engraving look still implies chateau status today.

I was working on another wine label (Belles Eaux) for Claude at the same time that I was working on this illustration for Clos des Jacobins. I was almost finished with the Jacobins illustration when I received an email from Claude:

Hello Michael,

Could you please quickly tell me when i will receive the illustration of clos des jacobins... my client is in hurry.
Thanks a lot, and sorry for the speed way, how i'm talking to you.
Waiting for you reply.

All the best
,

Claude Bernard

Within a couple hours after receiving Claude's email, I completed the drawing, scanned it and emailed a low resolution copy to Claude for his approval. He replied quickly:

Dear Michael,

Personally i love it ... thank's a lot ... For Belles Eaux I've asked to my client to pay as soon as possible, and for Clos Des Jacobins too.
I give you my rough of the label , I just put off people in front of
the "chateau"= castle.
I'm waiting for his opinion. He will need quickly another illustration
for another wine. "la commanderie"

Thanks again for your good job. As you see more work is coming.

All the best Michael,

Claude

Upon receiving this approval, I sent the high resolution file to Claude. The digital file I provide for quality printing is a scan of the original hand-drawn scratchboard illustration at its original size at 1200 ppi (pixels per inch) in 1-bit and saved in TIF format. See the printed label at the last step, step 5.
