Pencil Stage
I did four quick pencil sketches and emailed them to Daryl for his approval. He consulted with Patti and they agreed on the one shown here but with some revisions.

Thanks to the 3D rendering, the perspective had already been agreed on — a major hurdle cleared — so the primary difference in the pencils was in the landscape. The pencil sketches ranged from a view of the castle and no surrounding landscape to the one at left.

This was the chosen pencil, but with some changes: the narrow trees and bushes in front had to go; the pine-covered hills needed to rise higher; a turret needed to be added to the background; and grapevines should be in the foreground.
