First Pencil Rough for wine label

Here is one of several rough sketches that I did to get the creative process moving. The main purpose of these sketches is to explore different ideas and compositions. They should be done quickly and with little concern for detail—it's the overall feel that is important. Approximately nine roughs in all were done, loaded to my web sever, and then shown to my client, Bernie (see the other rough sketches here). After viewing the rough pencil sketches, Bernie emailed me with his pick along with suggestions on how to proceed:

Hello Again, Michael,

...I’ve had some time to review the labels and think that version 9 is by far the best for what I am needing.
A few tweaks, if possible:

1. Could we insert a gramophone in the background? (you know, the old RCA type of record player). I think that this would make the composition look intriguing somewhat.
2. Is it possible that we use the winery owner’s daughter for the facial profile? I could send you pictures taken in the same angle, if acceptable to you.
3. I am requesting images of the vineyard property for the background.

That’s all I have for now.

Many thanks,

BHB

With Bernie's comments in mind, and after he sent me reference photos of the owner's daughter and the vineyard, I proceeded to the next step—the tight-pencil stage.
