George and Mandy Jenkins
My mom's grandma and grandpa, George Frank and Amanda Elizabeth "Mandy" (Goodson) Jenkins—They are my great grandparents and the parents of my mom's mom, Susie (Jenkins) Anderson. They were married 22 December 1895. Mandy was born 17 October 1874, and passed away 4 April 1961. She was a midwife and helped deliver babies; in fact, she helped deliver my sisters, Donna and Sue Halbert. She was a good natured Christian woman, who occasionally enjoyed smoking a pipe and was terrified of a storm. George F. was born the son of Zerah Benjamin Franklin and Mary Catherine (Henslee) Jenkins on 15 June 1872, and passed away 25 November 1955. George was inflicted with arthritis, which became increasingly severe with age, and was unable to work (or even walk) in the later part of his life. Yet, even with the pain he suffered day in and day out, he seemed to always have a sunny disposition. They lived on Hazel Creek for many years but spent their twilight years in Belgrade, Missouri. They begat 12 children. See more photos of George and Mandy.
