My dad's great grandpa, William Harvey Halbert, born about 1822 in Steelville, Missouri. He was married 13 January 1848 to Elizabeth Halbert (no that's not a mistake). He died about 1900 in Crawford county, Missouri. They had nine children. One of the nine children was Jefferson B. Halbert.

William Harvey was a son of James Halbert. James was born 8 September 1778, to William and Elizabeth (Hill) Halbert. James was a Baptist minister. James is the son of William Halbert, who was born 14 October 1744 and died 28 December 1808, married Elizabeth Hill (daughter of William Hill) in 1765. William Halbert was a private in the American Revolution. William is a son of Joel and Elizabeth (Jones) Halbert. Joel was one of the first of record in the American Colonies of the name Halbert and came from Whales to Virginia .
