  Reference Photo

The three reference photos were scanned, scaling the dogs to get as close to the same size as possible and using the same resolution. The scans are then put into one file on separate layers. Since I had already drawn the Airedale in profile and at about the same size, I copied and pasted the head of that dog into the file of the photo scans.

I used parts from each reference photo to create a dog in profile and without perspective. The dog should be at eye level, from the ground to the top of its head.

After piecing together the best parts from the three scans, I used the lasso tool to select areas of the body that needed to be adjusted to achieve the straight on view I needed. Scale, skew, distort and rotate, from the layers-transform menu, were the main tools used for this.
