Here's my new reference photo. It doesn't make a good photo for reproduction, but it will work great for what I need. A pencil (drawing) will be made from this reference and more adjustments will be made to the dog at that point.

The reference photo was printed at the exact size of the finished illustration (in this case, about 4.5 inches tall by 3.5 inches wide), using an "Epson Stylus Color 1520" printer. The reproduction size will be about 1.5 inches tall. The line work will have to be bold and open to allow for this drastic reduction (30 percent).

Fact:
