The animation to the left will give you an idea of how the illustration was rendered. I began by putting in crude thick and thin lines and areas of solid black. Then I scratched into the solid black areas for detail. Finally, I cleaned up the line work with a scratchboard knife. The finished art is scanned and touched up further in PhotoShop. Also, another version with a black background is made.
