Here is the rough pencil sketch for the
Spanish Soldier. The sketch is significantly more detailed than I had
initially planned, but I found that the extra detail was required in order
to depict the clothing and weapons clear enough for the curator to determine
if the items in the drawing are historically correct.
The Pencil is done on tracing paper laid over a print out of the model.
I referred to historical reference supplied by the client when drawing
the clothing and weapons. The printout of the model is used as a rough
guided to help in creating this 1650s Spanish soldier. The main purpose
of this sketch is to get the clothing and weapons rightthe perspective
and anatomy will be worked out on the next round of pencils.
