Here you see the scratchboard with the pencil
transferred on to it. The scratchboard is covered with a piece of tracing
paper to protect the clay surface. A small area is cut
out of the tracing paper, exposing an area to be inked, while the
rest of the board remains covered and protected.
Reference material is kept close by so it can be easily referred to while
the inking is being done.
