This
is the second illustration that was done for a direct mail campaign promoting
a motivation lecture. The campaign used the Labors of Hercules as its
theme.
This illustration (on right) depicts the third labor, "The Hind of
Ceryneia." A hind is a female red deer that has golden horns and
bronze hooves. Hercules' task was to catch the deer alive and unharmed,
and bring it back to Eurystheus. Hercules chased the Hind for a full year,
before he finally lost patience and shot the deer, but did not kill her.
Unlike the Hind this project, which was supposed to include nine illustrations,
was killed after the second illustration.
Follow the steps to see how this illustration was done.
