Normally when I do a pencil sketch, it is just a light outline drawing, showing the position and shapes of objects that will be in the illustration. And it serves two purposes. One, to show to the client for their approval to proceed with the final art, and two, to use it as a guide for doing the final art.

But for this illustration the pencil is going to be very accurately drawn, with a soft (dark) pencil, almost to the point of being a finished piece of line art. I plan to use it for the final illustration by scanning it, and using a graphics pen in Photoshop 5.5, to fine tone the line work.
